The last time I posted about myself, I was planning to use a submission service to send my poems out to poetry magazines and journals. At the last minute, I decided instead to be mentored by Jeffrey Levine, who is the founder, publisher, and editor of Tupelo Press. It has been very helpful and will continue into the future, for a while anyway. And interestingly, Jeffrey doesn’t know of any literary magazines who refuse to publish poems already published in a blog, although that’s what the submissions service had said, hence my decision to stop posting my poetry on my blog. So with that news, guess I’ll start publishing the occasional poem, starting today. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!

Thanks for the information, Willow. I long ago gave up submitting. It just takes too much time away from writing. But I’ll look into Tupelo! Judy Here’s today’s short short

Thanks so much for stopping by. I was going to use Writers’ Relief and have them submit my work, but I never did use them. Jeffrey Levine at Tupelo Press does conferences and mentoring, besides running his publishing company (but they don’t offer submissions services, in case my post was confusing.
Wonderful news—I missed reading your poems.
Happy Holidays and an Enlightening, Prosperous, Peaceful and healthy New Years to you!
With light,
Kathy
Hi Kathy, thanks so much! I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season!
Good to have you back in my in box. :^)
Thanks, glad to be back!
Yay Willow! Such wonderful news. Thanks for letting me know.
I’m excited too!
I recommend reading each publication’s submission guidelines. Some specifically state that they don’t accept anything previously published, even on personal blogs, while others state that they do indeed accept pieces previously posted on personal blogs. It varies, but there are plenty of opportunities out there.
Yes, thanks–I’ll certainly do that. I’ve missed posting on here and getting the feedback!
Yay!! I have to admit I was sad for you. I know how it is when our words come more alive here. I had heard that too about publishers. So I decided to self publish. Happy with my decision.. though they kind of make it so mysterious. Afterwards, I thought, “That was not such a big deal.” 🙂 So happy you are writing here again. ❤ Laurie
Oh, interesting that you self-published! I self-published a children’s fantasy in 2009 and when I get a good collection of poems ready (that will be a while), I’ve decided I’ll do it again instead of trying to find a publisher after all. That way I’ll know they’ll be published!
I’m going to self publish another book too. 🙂 I like feeling a little independent that way. ❤
So nice to see you back, dear Willow! 🙂
